  • First, and most important, your number priority is the safety of yourself and your family. If you are in an evacuation zone, or have reason to believe the storm presents a danger to you, please evacuate to safety. This applies to all storms.

  • It is important to remember that hurricanes present a number of dangers in their path, even if you are not directly hit. High winds are the most well-known, but storms can also bring storm surges, heavy flooding, tornadoes, lightning and utility failures. Understand that often times utility restoration is going to be directed to the hardest hit areas, so even if you are not directly impacted, you can be without power for an extended period of time.
